Other than people like that and the lack of squat racks I don't have many issues where I'm at. Me to guy standing with me waiting: Is it just me or was that guy like super rude. Pulls up snapchat and spends a few minutes taking pics in the mirror before getting up. Him: After close to 5 minutes does another set. Pulls out his phone and does the same thing. Literally sits there for like 5 whole minutes. ![]() Pulls out his phone and starts texting someone. Him: Does like 5 reps and sits on the bench. The guy (pretty skinny and nonathletic looking) on it was doing flys. Just the other day, gym was packed because it was still in the first few weeks of January, and I just wanted an incline bench to do some dumbell press. I got to a college gym most of the time right now, and I can't stand some people's lack of gym etiquette. ![]() I find that having a lot of options means no excuses. I will also go running around the parking lot at Costco while my wife is shopping there and I'll go running around the parking lot when my wife goes grocery shopping too. I have weights at home and I often go running around the neighborhood. What's great about the facility is $12/hour court fees. People are courteous in the free weights, TRX machine and fitness rooms. Bathrooms aren't very good (one has been broken for a few months). The locker room was just redone and it's okay but the showers are - well, grimy. This place is about 8 miles away so it's not my first choice but it's between home and office. Basically the locker room doesn't have enough capacity and so it's almost always wet or you're bumping into people. They just did a 5,500 sq ft expansions and increased the number of temporary lockers by 150%! Everything there is nice except for the men's locker room which I never use. One of them is a few years old and the place is really nice. I also belong to the YMCA which has two facilities in my area. Of course the workplace is different from a place that you pay for - getting fired from your job isn't the same as getting fired from your gym club. If people behave badly in the gym (it happens from time to time) and it bothers enough people to complain about it, then the Fitness Center Manager sends an email out telling people to change their behavior. We have a gym, classroom and table tennis room at the office. There is another national beach inspired gym 3 miles away they just don't have a pool. I'm really contemplating switching gyms as this nasty place isn't the cheapest place either. The newbs are mostly confined to the machines and not the free weights so I can't even really blame them. There are many well developed guys and girls in my gym. I look at the members and most of them look like they've been working out quite a long time. It seems like no one gives a darn about gym etiquette and the members have never gone to a gym before. I also can't stand the peeps who are so clean yet they cannot flush after the go. Weight plates are still on the barbells and machines. Weights are scattered all over the floor. I've emailed the management about my discontentment with my gym before but it's still the same.Įvery time I go to the gym, it seems like it's a never been tidied. I really do not know if it's the members or the management who I should be blaming for my issues with the gym. ![]() ![]() The next closest gyms in the chain are within a 10 mile radius and there are 4 of them. It's only a half mile from my house but I hate it. I have a gym membership to this national gym chain named after a prominent west coast city.
